I Had A Dream That You Were Mine

Released on September 23, 2016 I Had A Dream That You Were Mine  is the collaborative product of Hamilton Leithauser (The Walkmen) and Rostam Batmangli (Vampire Weekend). Leithauser, who served as the front man of The Walkmen for many years, and Batmangali, the multi-instrumentalist mastermind behind many of Vampire Weekend’s most beloved tracks, first met in 2008 when Vampire Weekend opened for the Walkmen. The two would go on to collaborate on Leithauser’s first solo album, Black HoursRostam made contributions to the songs “Alexandra” and “I Retired”.

I Had A Dream That You Were Mine was recorded over a period of about a year and a half beginning in July 2014 and ending in February 2016. The majority of the album was recorded in Los Angeles with Leithauser spending weeks at a time at Batmangali’s California home. According to accounts from both musicians, the recording process went smoothly due to the great amount of respect that each had for one another musically. The record went on to receive much critical acclaim and found its way on to several “Best of 2016 ” lists including Pitchfork’s and American Songwriter’s.
